The Outer Ring Road, also known as the Jawaharlal Nehru Outer Ring Road (ORR), is a big road that goes all around Hyderabad.
It's 158 kilometres long and has eight lanes for traffic. The expressway was made for cars to go up to 100 km per hour (62 mph). Later, its speed limit was raised to 120 km per hour (75 mph).
It goes through important places like Hi-Tech City, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, and the Financial District. The plan was to build the ORR to ease traffic on the main roads as part of improving the city's infrastructure.
ORR Connectivity
The ORR project is more than just building a road; it's also about developing the surrounding areas. The goal was to create organized and well-connected neighbourhoods around. The ORR links different growing areas and industrial zones with smaller roads.
Toll booths are set up at 19 spots along the ORR to maintain the infrastructure. The ORR has 21 interchange junctions.
